2010 VIVERA SALISIRE ETNA BIANCO-SICILY, ITALY

vivera-salisire-etna-bianco-doc-2010

In 2002 the Vivera family finally realized their dream to purchase a wine estate in Martinella (the name comes from Saint Martin, the wine saint) in Sicily on the northeast side of Mt. Etna. The estate has olive groves and vineyards where native grape varietals are cultivated organically. Etna’s mountainous range and volcanic soil creates microclimates that assist the Vivera family in creating the unique and elegant Etna wines. This white has a long growing season with cooling winds, ensuring good aromatic wines that express the saline from the sea and a complex character of combination of rich, ripe fruit and mushroom-y earthiness that comes from a long lees contact.  Food Pairing: Oysters, olives, Pistachio pesto, fried and grilled seafood, duck.  $23.99

Winemaker’s Notes
A balanced Cabernet Sauvignon ideal for an evening glass to help unwind or for a meal any day of the week, this wine makes its intentions known with aromas of bright strawberry, raspberry, and cranberry followed by notes of black cherry, toasted oak and vanilla. The lush full entry teases the palate with a confectionery blend of red fruits and then evolves into a dark full bodied Cabernet. The Kith & Kin gracefully finishes with balanced acids and lingering red fruit, allowing this wine to be approachable and easy to drink early on yet also retain elegance and finesse.  $29.99
